Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty is performed on patients who have upper or lower eyelids which are sagging, wrinkled, bulging, or interfering with vision. These are common changes which occur with age.

Some patients develop weakness of the levator muscle attachment to the upper lid, which results in inability to fully open the eyelid (eyelid ptosis). This condition can also be corrected surgically.

Chin Augmentation

This procedure is helpful for patients with a small or receding chin or one that looks weak in proportion to the nose and face. Patients in good general health who wish to improve their facial proportions by enhancing the projection of the chin are generally good candidates.

Often, patients believe that their nose is abnormally large, while the main problem may be inadequate projection of the chin on profile view. Patients considering chin augmentation are seen in consultation with Dr. Casso. The chin and face are examined, and the patient’s concerns are elicited.

Endoscopic Brow Lift

This procedure is helpful for patients who are experiencing wrinkling in the forehead, sagging eyebrows, and prominence of vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows. Some patients wish to correct what they believe is an angry or stern appearance of their forehead and eyebrows.

Patients in good general health who desire a more youthful and rested appearance of the forehead, brows and upper eyelids may benefit from this procedure.

Facelift

Facelift surgery is helpful for patients who are experiencing typical aging changes in the face, including laxity of the skin of the cheeks, deepening of the nasolabial folds (alongside the upper lip), and marionette folds (alongside the lower lip), prominence of the jowls, as well as muscle bands and skin laxity in the neck. The procedure is tailored to the specific needs of the patient, and may include a midface lift alone (treating cheek and jowl laxity), a neck lift alone (treating skin laxity, muscle bands and fatty deposits in the neck), or a facelift, which treats both the midface and neck. It is commonly performed in conjunction with an endoscopic browlift, which treats wrinkles in the forehead and between the eyebrows and sagging of the eyebrows, upper and lower eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), dermabrasion, or smoothing of fine wrinkles around the mouth or between the eyebrows, and fat injections in deep facial creases. It may also be performed in conjunction with breast or body contouring surgery.

Mid-Face Lift

This procedure is helpful for patients who are experiencing typical aging changes in the cheeks, including laxity of the skin of the cheeks, deepening of the nasolabial folds (alongside the upper lip), and marionette folds (alongside the lower lip), and prominence of the jowls.

Many patients choose to undergo rejuvenation of the neck in conjunction with a mid-face lift. This combination of mid-face and neck surgery constitutes a facelift.

Dr. Casso consults with his patient and tries to ascertain what concerns the patient about his or her appearance, and recommends surgery which helps to address those concerns. Proposed incision lines are discussed.

Neck Lift

This procedure is helpful in treatment of laxity of skin of the neck, prominent muscle bands (platysma bands), and fatty deposits under the chin.

Non-smokers in good general health who believe their necks give them a tired or aged appearance are generally good candidates for this procedure. Both men and women may be good candidates for necklift surgery. Incision lines are carefully planned with patients to avoid visibility of scars or objectionable hairline distortions.

Otoplasty

This procedure is appropriate for patients with ears that stick out too far from the side of the head or ears that have an unusual or unattractive shape.

Appropriate candidates for this procedure are in good general health. Surgery on children with prominent ears is deferred until the age of five, at which time the ear has nearly fully grown.

Patients considering otoplasty are seen in consultation with Dr. Casso, who elicits background medical information. The ears are carefully examined, and the patient is queried about the specifics of his or her concerns.

Rhinoplasty

This procedure is helpful for patients who have a nose that is cosmetically unattractive or not in harmony with other facial features.

A thorough examination and consultation are performed, and the patient’s desires are carefully considered. In-office computer imaging is extremely valuable in assessing the cosmetic imperfection and in communicating with the patient the proposed changes.

Septoplasty

The nasal septum is a cartilaginous structure which separates the right and left side of the nasal airway. In some patients, either because of trauma or genetics, there may be some deviation of this cartilage into one or both airways, resulting in nasal airway obstruction. Patients experiencing this obstruction may be candidates for septoplasty.

Patients complaining of nasal airway obstruction are seen in consultation with Dr. Casso. A medical history is elicited, particularly with regards to seasonal allergies.
